Serial/Batch Numbers
Allen & Wheelock Side Hammer Belt Percussion Revolver
The Side Hammer Belt has the highest variety, but will be classified in 3 main variants or types:
- First type: The trigger guard has a friction latch system and a side plate with 3 screws.
- Second type: The 3-screw side plate is replaced by a 2-screw side plate. The trigger guard has still the friction latch.
- Third type: The trigger guard has the improved snap latch, and the side plate has now only a single screw
It is just a guess but observing the serial numbers and taking in consideration the limited production quantities, I believe that the 1st and 2nd type were probably in production simultaneously using the same serial range, while the 3rd type has its own range. I will therefor classify using this assumption.

I have found duplicates on the serial/Batch numbers 25, 546 and 781. This information has however been found on internet without actual photo proof confirming the numbers, so there is some room for mistake.
